Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.
So I have been off exploring and having just returned from Singapore, to be honest I have been pretty frustrated, I was only meant to be in Singapore for a couple of days and ended up staying for nearly two weeks, it is an oversight on my part, but I have to admit, I packed my crafty stuff to do. However, whilst I was away from the Monkey pod I had time to sit and research some ideas and project, all curtsey Pinterest, so I designed a couple of afghan, shawls and other ideas…..and had the itch to get going and get some wool.
Feeling inspired to get going on afghan idea number 1, for now the overall design will remain a secret. However, as part of the design I need some stars for my afghan, on my way home from work, I stopped by Himla Fint AS, at Eiker Sentret and purchased Dale Falk Superwash Ull in a white colour (Code0017). These are 50 gram balls and for 3-4mm knitting neddles. I am using a 3.5 mm hook. The following pattern is pretty simple and quick and can be used to decorate and number of projects or ideas, the can be pinned, sewn or hung anywhere, I am actually thinking about Christmas decorations with sparkling beads hanging from the Christmas tree in front of a log fire with a table with mince pies and a cheeky brandy for another idea;
I am using American terms for my crochet just because these are the terms I am more familiar with, however I have put UK terms in brackets;
Ch; Chain 5 (ch) and slip stich to make a circle.
Ch; Chain 1, then work 10 sc; single crochets (dc) into the ring.
Remember to crochet over your tail end. Once you have completed the ring, you can pull the tail to close the circle and just snip the tail off, without having to darn it in. (For this project I am leaving the centres of my stars open.)
Join with a slip stich.
Ch; Chain 1, then sc; Single crochet (dc) into the first chain, 2 sc single crochets (dc) into the next chain, then a single..and so on. You should end up with 15 single crochets in this round.
Now for the points of the star
Ch; Chain 5,
Sc; Single Crochet into second chain (dc)
Hdc; Half Double crochet in to third chain (htr)
Dc; Double Crochet into forth chain (tr)
Trc; Triple crochet into fifth chain. (dtr)
Miss two chain stiches on the round and slip stich into the third chain along.
Then chain 5 and repeat all the way around to make your sparkly star.
